How to trigger inner awakening?
“Your visions will become clear only when you can look into your own heart. Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes.” – Carl Jung
If you have ever experienced the majestic ascent from a mountain top or simply found yourself in a state of hygge as you take your first sip of coffee – you know that moment of lift off. The moment of lift off is where you experience elevating consciousness. Simply put – it is that state of feeling awakened and inclusive about your surroundings.
Call it “nirvana”; call it “enlightenment”; call it “bliss”; a spiritual awakening begins the moment a person can step back and “awake” to their life with a new sense of being in this world.
This is that moment of awakening. It’s when the mind wakes up to a new reality, a new lesson, a new realization or a newer way of thinking.
While awakening can be spontaneous, for most people they are triggered by major life events that can be either life altering or mundane. Life changing events such as pandemics, major illnesses, and relocations can be triggers for some people. Feeling detached from your surroundings, noticing a shift in your relationship with others, feeling purposeful are some of the signs of experiencing awakening in your life.
The process of experiencing a spiritual awakening however needn’t always be dramatic or catastrophic. There are simpler ways in which you can raise your consciousness and experience awakening even from the comfort of your homes. Here’s how :
- Practice mindful decluttering
Decluttering is the first and most important step to do away with things that no longer serve you. This includes clearing up the physical space of things that you no longer need and clearing up your mind from thoughts that can distract you. Practice mindful decluttering and take the time to sit through silence and solitude to connect with yourself.
- Go with the flow
Very often, a spiritual awakening requires letting go of some beliefs and going with the flow. Try to open up to serendipity and positive coincidences. That’s the good thing about awakening: once you realize that you have been sleeping, the universe shows the signs.
- Expand your mindspace
Expand your mind by reading books, attending lectures and having conversations with people from diverse backgrounds. When you expand your mind to allow in new ideas, beliefs, and possibilities, you increase the opportunity to wake up to a life experience you never knew was possible.
- Emptying yourself through meditation and other practices
Learn to let go and detach yourself and let go of your past experiences. If you’re attached to the idea of having a spiritual awakening from the expected outcomes of your past experiences, you’re far less likely to experience one.
Keep in mind that spiritual awakening isn’t necessarily a one time experience. Practices that help you experience enhanced awareness and elevated consciousness can always take you closer to your moment of awakening.
