'A nation's culture resides in the hearts and in the souls of its people' ' Mahatma Gandhi India is one of the world's oldest and most diverse cultures. The Indian culture is a composite mixture of varying styles and influences. Diversity of language, religion, food, architecture, art, clothing, customs and celebrations is what makes our 4500 year old civilization unique and full of life. Culture plays a pivotal role in the development of an individual. The culture of a nation or community is representative of its values, goals, practices and shared beliefs. The richness and depth of the Indian culture while retaining its fundamentals, timely imbibes the qualities of various other cultures and is a contemporary and acceptable tradition world over. Our interactions with this vibrant culture and its ecosystem, form our association with the values and significance of rituals entrenched in its being. Our age old traditions have gifted the country with various festivals and fairs, that form its rich cultural heritage. The celebration of these festivals brings people closer and establishes a sense of community and belonging. Participating in the various festivals that our community celebrates, inculcates consciousness and appreciation towards this spirit of celebration. Amidst the joy and celebration that these festivals encircle our everyday lives with, following are some attributes that make these festivals mediums of mindfulness: Co-creation Festivals often serve as reasons for bringing families and friends together.

They play an important role in adding structure to our social lives and in connecting us with our diverse traditions, religion, heritage and culture. Festivals impart moral and social responsibility amongst its partakers, thereby enabling them towards co-creation, further empowering people to manifest experiences greater than themselves. Sense of belonging While conveying fulfillment and a sense of purpose to our lives, festivals enable a sense of belonging by bringing people together. Co-creating and taking ownership through responsibilities during a festival brings in accountability thereby instilling belongingness. In our fragmented lives, festivals speak the need for community and connectedness by offering an immersive experience, engaging the senses and empowering the individual. Embracing hope Festivals motivate us to do better and share our joy with the world.

They open up a world of possibilities and bring with them opportunities to set new milestones. Not only do our cultural festivities establish a sense of belongingness within the community and empower us to do our bit for co-creation, they also show us how people can let go of any problems they may be undergoing in their present lives to unanimously celebrate the spirit of mankind thereby embracing hope and positivity. The festivals we celebrate are a testimony of our diverse tradition and culture. While our interactions with the festivals we celebrate not only empowers us with mindfulness, it also opens up the scope for rejuvenation. Consciously integrating rejuvenation and outlets for recreation in our lives can do wonders to re-energize us on our path to purpose and is instrumental in manifesting everyday success.
